Health care services in Quitman are abundant for a rural area. We are fortunate to have a hospital, two ambulance services, nursing home facilities, pharmacies, home health and 911 emergency services available.

H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital, a 50-bed hospital and extended care facility, is located at 605 South Archusa in Quitman. The hospital provides a wide range of services. The hospital has a very dedicated staff of professionals from the board members to management to physicians to nurses and support staff. The mission of the hospital has always been to provide progressive health care to families at the most reasonable cost.

Other medical services in the county include four medical clinics, the County Health Department, various home health services, dentists, a chiropractor, podiatrist, optometrist, five pharmacies, two ambulance services, and E911.

The county is also very fortunate to have very active local volunteer fire departments in the various municipalities. The fire departments Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) lend their aid in times of need.

Emergency Services:
Clarke County is fortunate to have E911 and two ambulance services available. In 1994, Clarke County implemented E911 services for residents. This service is one of the first E911 CAD mapping systems in the state of Mississippi. The 911 office is responsible for the database and the E911 maps, two of the components of the E911 environment, for the entire county. The PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) is where the E911 calls are received and dispatched out to the proper Emergency Responders.
